The Convention Places of The Original Inhabitants With a View Over The Northern Coast

Mysticism Between Galdar and San Felipe

The Tagoror del Gallego is one of the most spectacular archaeological records of the original inhabitants of Gran Canaria. The Tagoror del Gallego consists of six seats made out of stone which are situated in a spectacular manner on a hill between Galdar and Las Palmas. It is assumed that the original inhabitants held their ceremonies and conventions at this place.

These seats are located on a plateau at the peak of the Gallego mountain. The climb to this location starts out in the village Gallego. As soon as one does not hear the barking of dogs anymore (dogs seem to be a common pet in most households on Gran Canaria) one can enjoy the wonderful peace and quiet. The sounds of nature, like the wind and the waves and one’s own breath are the only sounds one is surrounded by.

Looking inland hikers can look at the tallest mountains of Gran Canaria and the village Moya is situated above a canyon on a rock covered with grass, which is especially dark green during the raining season in winter. Also, the view over the banana plantations and the fisher villages between San Felipe and El Puertillo is one of the highlights of the Northern coast of Gran Canaria. Looking more to the West, one can glimpse at the city Galdar that is located on a lava dome. During sunsets one can see the El Treide volcano in the background. This volcano is 3700 metres high and therefore the highest mountain of Spain.

The Tagoror del Gallego is one of many locations where tourists can still bask in the magic of the original Gran Canaria. This location is not visited by many tourists – because most people do not even know about its existence.
